WoW Update

At the Argent Tournament, I now have exalted reputation with all the represented factions and I need about 3 more days to get all of the pets. Next I'll be working on the mounts. The gold is pretty good and I've only been doing the ones that get my the Champion's Seals so they go by pretty quick.

I got my Northrend Loremaster achievement last weekend and have begun to work on Outlands. So far, I've finished up the Nesingwary Quests in Nagrand giving me the Nesingwary Achievement, Nagrand quests and exploration are complete, Zangarmarsh quests and exploration are complete and Hellfire Peninsula quests and exploration are complete. I am working on Blade's Edge Mountains (BEM) quests and exploration and am a little over half way complete. I hope to complete BEM on Monday and start working on Netherstorm next week.

I've also been doing several of the smaller achievements as I get to them. I finally got the gold together to buy the Inscribed Kirin Tor Ring and have since rebuilt my gold reserves. I completed all the Timear Foresees quests and need 6 more of the Heroic daily quests to finish that out. I also completed the Northrend Gourmet Achievement.

We finally got a decent group together last night and made it through the first three bosses in Ulduar on Heroic. Yay! Hopefully the same group will be available tonight and we can get through Ignus and at least one other boss in the Antechamber.

Recently I pulled my druid out of storage and began levelling her up. She got stuck at 60 when WotLK came out. She's now 64 and counting. She's also my leather worker and skinner. Both skills are up to Outland levels as well. I'm getting her cooking up and I'll start on her fishing once she hits 80. Other than maxing out her professions, she'll always be just an alt and I won't go for any achievements on her. I hope to have her raid ready in a couple more months. I'll try and level her with another guild member at 70.

I also have a shaman sitting at 40. At some point this year I'd like to get her up to level 50. Then I can level her with a different guild member's shaman. I'm very excited about doing that.

A New Beginning

I suppose, when I started a blog, it was going to be just thoughts about my hobbies. I've realized I needed to put something more into it. I need an outlet for all my thoughts.

There have been several things going on in my personal life that has caused considerable havoc. The first happened at the end of January, beginning of February. My last remaining grandparent had a couple of massive strokes. It left my grandmother a shell. She can't do anything and is being fed through a tube in her stomach. I've been waiting for the rest of the family to decide that's its time to let her go and last weekend they finally made that decision. As far as I'm concerned she never came back into her body after the second stroke. Its been a long 6 months of family indecisiveness. The doctors tell us it will take anywhere between 1 and 3 weeks once they remove the feeding tube.

The second we had been planning since last year and that was to go to my cousins wedding in the UK and make a really nice vacation of it. We went and it was fabulous. But all the planning and then the trip itself caused no small ripple in my day-today schedule. I plan to share photos and my experiences in several subsequent posts.

The next is work itself. I work for the State of California. We are currently on 3 furlough days a month and the threat of a fourth come August. Normally, I work what they call a 9/80. this means 8 days of every 10 I work 9 hours, one I work 8 hours and the last I have off. With the furloughs in effect, managers in my department are considering putting everyone back on a regular 5/40 schedule and forgoing any alternate schedules since no one will be working any Fridays. I'm enjoying the time off but it does nothing for my morale at work. I'm already doing the work of a Senior position, but getting paid only for top Rank and File. The extra income would be good, but I'd like the responsibility more. As it is, I answer to several people, not just my official supervisor and I can't get anything done without all of their concurrence. Very frustrating.

So, in between all of this I work on things around the house or mostly play WoW. I've managed to really neglect the backyard. Being away from the garden for more than 2 weeks didn't help either. The weeds and grass are almost hip high. We've started a little on getting that under control. My knitting project is just a little further than where I left it after my vacation, so that's only been neglected for about 2 weeks or so. In addition, I had almost run out of yarn and needed to purchase a little more before I tried to finish it up. WoW, well, raiding has been rather lackluster lately, so I've been working on my achievements. I'll put up a later post on how far I've come.

My quest for achievements continues

I haven't posted in awhile. I've been busy. Way too much going on right now in both my personal life and at work. I've been working diligently on the Argent Tournament dailies. After the first round of 5 daily quests, you become a Champion of that reputation and can buy things from the vendors there. In addition it opened up another line of 5 daily quests for Champions. You can either choose a bag of 10 gold or a Writ that can be turned in for more rep. I've completed Iron Forge, Stormwind and Gnomeregan Exiles. I'm getting close with Darnassus, just a couple of more days. Items at the rep vendors includes a mount for the Tournament, a new mount for each rep, a tabbard and a pet to match the mounts. There are other things there but those are the items I'm looking forward to getting. It will take another 230 days of completing the dailies here to get all the items I want. Although the gold for completing the dailies is pretty good. I've got another month or so before I can get my Inscribed Kirin Tor ring (depending on how many extra dailies I do, I can cut this down).

We completed the Clossal Forge in 10 man Ulduar this weekend. We also got down the bridge guy and the lady with the panthers. We made a couple of attempts at Thorim. Ulduar is very difficult. Even the trash are like bosses and sometimes more difficult than the bosses.

I've been running some of our newer 80's through 10 man Naxx and learning to run a raid. That's been interesting. We ran up against a couple of walls, but everyone was willing to work through them and we made it.

Ulduar 3.1 patch dropped...

and I haven't looked up from the computer since. Bad, I know, but sometimes its necessary. The patch dropped last Tuesday and the instance server stability was non-existent. So, I wasn't able to get in to the new instance until Thursday when they did restarts. The patch included a new area in Icecrown called the Argent Tournament. Lots of new quests and additional World Event Achievements. One for the Argent Tournament and one for the Darkmoon Faire, although the Darkmoon Faire is currently empty, there's still tons to do for the Argent Tournament. I completed all the quests Tuesday night, so I was set up to do daily quests. Blizzard has set up a schedule so you can't blast through the Argent Tournament stuff. Its all based on doing daily quests. The first one took 3 days to complete to get you to the next level. The second step (I'll finish up today) is taking 5 days to complete. Tonight I'll find out what the next step is. In the meantime I'm racking up the Silver Covenant and Gnomereganreputation in completing the dailies. In theory I should eventually be able to get rep for all the main cities and factions represented at the Argent Tournament.

A new fishing daily quest was added in Dalaran which I'm enjoying. It gives some interesting rewards and an achievement for completing all four daily fishing quests. Also, they've added a mount that can be fished up very rarely, a turtle. I want one :P Blizzard is allowing fishing at any level anywhere in the world, what you get depends on your level. They've also allowed fishing in Wintergrasp. Yay! I can get most of the fish I need for fish feast all in one spot.

(There were many other changes made, but the above mentioned ones were the most significant to me.)

Red!

I'm putting aside my darker, winter lips and reaching for brighter spring-y colors. Today I rediscovered my love for MAC's Port Red. Yum! I even put on lip pencil to keep it in place and added a glossy layer with Posh Life. I went very simple with all my other make up. I keep looking for fun corals and lighter pinks for the Spring.

Gardening Woes

This weekend was so beautiful. Hubby and I took a peek out the window Thursday and found we had a lot of cleaning up to do. We neglected the garden all through the winter and now its a complete disaster.

So, Saturday started out with a quick trip to Lowe's for stuff to repair our sad excuse for a garden. We worked on the front first, clearing out weeds and cutting back the ugly ground cover/bushes installed when the house was built. We bought 2 flats of Ice Plants in various colors and spread them out through out the front flower bed. We also laid down a new layer of mulch/bark to cover the bare spots. DH put in a ring around the tree in the middle of the grass and added mulch to it.

We then moved to the backyard, where I proceeded to spend the rest of the time weeding. I only got the center patio and one raised bed done. DH was cleaning up the pond and took down the lattice from last years' attempt at beans and peas.

Sunday we got a little further, but were hindered by the full green waste bin. I managed to weed all of the pathways around the center patio, one and a half raised beds, and trimmed back the passionflower vine. It loves it where I planted it and threatens to take over the raised bed near it as well as anything else within a 10' radius. DH put in a new shepherd's hook for the two topsy-turvys we have planted with tomatoes. He repotted the indoor plants and put in a mulch ring around the dwarf orange tree. He also trimmed the pomegranate and we put in scotch moss under the pomegranate to help control moisture uner the tree.

After all that work, I discovered I had muscles that I had totally forgotten about. I was very sore Sunday evening and chose to do absolutely nothing but watch tv.

Knitting Projects

Something I haven't mentioned in awhile is my knitting projects. I've finished my slip dress, again. I had to take out the finishing stitch at the neckline and take it in under the arms. Then, redo the finishing stitch. What a pain! But its done. I just need a trip to the fabric store to pick up ribbon and notions for the adjustable straps. I'm thinking I may make a light jacket to go over it. I want it to be out of a light silk or something similar, in a sort of happi coat style. I think that would just finish the outfit.

I stopped by the yarn store this weekend and got yarn for a new project. I've decided on this beautiful peach happi coat style sweater with a wave pattern. Its in a book called Knit Kimono by Vicki Square and published by Interweave Press. I'm so excited. I hope I can finish by June!

Malygos!!!

Hmmm, a little behind in keeping up on posting.

Over the weekend: I was busy with family most of the weekend, but I was able to log on briefly on Friday and then again Sunday evening. Mostly it was to farm herbs and get a couple of dailies done. I also ran a couple of Outlands dungeons to help some guildies with achievements and levelling alts. During them I got my Did Somebody Order a Knuckle Sandwich Achievement and the Master of Arms Achievement. I also managed to squeeze in a Culling of Stratholme timed run and won my Bronze Drake Mount.

Monday: We were short the necessary people to do Sartharion +2, so we completed it with 19 and no extra drakes. Unfortunately Shadron was already down so most people will be short that drake for the Less is More Achievement. We then see who wanted to do more and ran a 10 man Malygos trial. We did it the first time. Although, I spent almost the entire fight dead. I was a little upset about that, but it happens. I also did The Oculus afterwards and finally had a group that could finish it.

Tuesday I had off from work (Holiday - Cesar Chavez?, it's a California thing). So I farmed herbs and finally did Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom. It was the Daily Heroic, so getting people to do it wasn't too bad. That completed my Northrend Dungeon Hero and Champion of the Frozen Wastes Achievements. I also got one other achievement in that run, but I can't remember the name. For raid we were trying Malygos 25 man. It took a couple of tries, but we got it!! We can now do 25 man Malygos. I'm so happy! Nothing dropped for me, but I feel better about using the title now. I didn't feel I contributed to the 10 man one on Monday, so it didn't feel right to use it. Now it feels right, I made my contribution to downing Malygos. We also had our best attempt at Sartharion +2 last night. Vesperon was a quarter of the way down before everything fell apart. We'll try again on Thursday. Hopefully we can race through Naxx tonight.

A Night of No Progress Followed By A Great Night

Tuesday night's raid didn't go anywhere. Well, I suppose we got a few more attempts at Malygos. We seem to be getting better and worse. The first couple of tries we were really making good progress. We had enough time during the third phase and most if not everyone was still alive when we hit the dragon riding phase. We got some of the coordination down for the third phase and then everything fell apart. No dead Malygos, once again. So, off we went to Naxx to do the Construct Quarter. We couldn't even down Patchwerk!! We had all Raiders and we still couldn't do it! It must have just been an off night for everyone.

Last night was an entirely different story. We went straight to Naxx and cleared the Spider Quarter in under 20 minutes, we got the Arachnophobia Achivement (Yay!!). We then proceeded to decimate everything else. We even had time to clear Patchwerk in one try. So, tonight there is just the last three bosses in the Construct Quarter and Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad. We may have time to try Sartharion +2 dragons tonight. That'll be nice. Maybe even get Sarth +2 down, now that would be the highlight of the week. Especially after the disappointments of Tuesday night.

Gah! Keys! Who needs keys?!

Well, I discovered one of the two keys I'm missing for the Keymaster Achievement is the Shadowforge Key for Blackrock Depths. I have to quest for the key and to get the quest for the key I have to be dead. Yep, that's right I said dead. Gah! Who needs this kind of grief? They say the easiest thing to do is to strip off all your gear and jump in the lava near the grave yard. Then as a ghost/wisp/ or whatever go into Blackrock Mountain and find the ghost who will provide you with the Shadowforge Key, eventually. Too bad I didn't know this before I started the instance. It was already late and I cleared most of the outer area, only to discover I couldn't go any further. I've also been having trouble with my computer and I can't have WoW, Ventrilo, and a browser open all at the same time, so I couldn't check on the Shasowforge Key until after I shut down WoW. Oh well, its temporary. DH is in the process of bulding me a new computer. :)

We finished up last weeks Naxx last night. We just had Kel and Saph. Then many people dropped either because it was too late for them or they had already run Heroic Obsidian Sanctum. So we did it with 19 people and got the Lesser is More Achievement. Yay!

Weekend Update

Ah, Monday, you provide such a good chance to update my blog from the weekend....

On the WoW front I completed several achievements and am well on my way to completing several more. I did both Razorfen Kraul and Razorfen Downs, I was also able to complete Lower Blackrock Spire. This means I have only to complete Blackrock Depths to complete the Classic Dungeonmaster Achievement! I'm going to try tonight if we don't get enough people to complete last weeks Naxx run. I've also skilled up daggers, staves and unarmed combat to 399, so just 1 more skill point to get the Master of Arms Achievement and the Did Somebody Order a Knuckle Sandwich Achivement. I also spent some time completing the Pest Control Achievement, To All the Squirells I've Loved Before Achievement and To All the Squirells Who've Shared My Life Achievement. The guides and comments on some of the databases have been very helpful in completing these achievements. I've also begun upping my reputation with the Alliance cities using cloth turn ins. Some were already fairly high due to the instances and quests I've already completed. I think this will just make things move along faster as I continue to do instances. I've also begun turning in items for Argent Dawn reputation. I haven't quite figured this one out with the insignias, but I'm gathering them up fairly quickly...

Makeup wise I just put in my order for MAC's latest collection Sugarsweet as well as for a couple of the Grand Duos blushes and a Cream Team lipstick and Creamsheen lipgloss. I can't wait to get a hold of them!

Its Been Awhile....

So, between work and family, I haven't had time to update my blog until today.

First, the WoW update:
I've been working on the Classic Dungeon Acheivement. I've completed almost half of them. Yesterday I did Wailing Caverns and Ragefire Chasm. Ragefire Chasm wasn't too bad getting to, since I did it in the middle of the day when Ogrimar was basically empty. Doing these instances is also forcing me to work on the Exploration of Kalimdor and my weapons/unarmed combat skills. I've explored three areas of Kalimdor and have raised my wands and swords skills to 400. My unarmed combat and staves skills are at 399. I plan on skilling up daggers in the Razorfen instances and finishing unarmed combat and staves. Dire Maul was on Sunday. I almost went insane trying to figure out that place by myself. I spent 4 hours running around Dire Maul only to find out that the last key I needed for the boss in the north wing was on one of the first mobs I killed and was destroyed when I left the instance. I had to reset. Thankfully, DH helped me get through it again.

Second, MAC update:
Grand Duos came out last week and the blushes are gorgeous in the pan. I'll probably end up with two of them. Light Over Dark and Moon River caught my eye. I've decided to go back and pick up from the Cream Team collection Shy Girl and Boy Bait. This morning the Sugar Sweet and Viva Glam collections became available on the MAC website. I've been considering the eyeshadows, maybe one of the shadesticks and one of the tricolour lipglasses. Last I need to replace my Viva Glam V lipstick. I'm almost out!

Third, knitting update: I finally 'finished' my slip dress. It turned out great. I have to make a couple of modifications...it gapes under the arms and I need to buy the ribbon and rings for the straps. To fix the gaping, I need to undo the finishing rows on the back and armholes, take it in and redo the finishing rows. This will probably be a good days work. Not bad for my first dress. I've got to consider what my next project will be.

Fourth, book update: I read two more Kelley Armstrong books, Personal Demon and No Humans Involved. I also finished the Hatter M graphic novel (Brilliant!). I can't wait to get my hands on the next Hatter M graphic novel. I've just started The Boleyn Inheritance.

Icecrown, Again!

I can't say how much I hate Icecrown. While I've actually grown to like some of the daily quests, finishing the Achievement Icecrown: The Final Frontier, is slowly becoming a personal hell. I'm stuck at a point where I can't do any more quests by myself. I need at least one other person and they have to be at the same place as I or have completed the quests already. I'm so frustrated. DH is being extra nice and is working to get all the quests I did done, so he can help me. Meanwhile, all I can do are the dailies and leave the Icecrown quest achievement temporarily uncomplete.

I think I'll start completing exploration and quest achievements for Outlands....

The Perfect Nude Lips

Well, at least for me this combo is. I discovered it this weekend while looking for something simple with some shine too. I wore Viva Glam V lipstick under Underage Lipglass. If I want a little less pink to my lips I used Cute Ster lipstick instead of the VG V and for a little peach coloring added Ola Mango Lipglass over the top of everything.

Just too perfect!

Sarth +2

Last night we spent the entire time trying to do Sartharion plus two other dragons. We had Tenebron and Vesperon to deal with. We mad significant progress, but were short healers to keep us up the entire time. We started getting really good at getting Tenebron down first and before Vesperon came down. The transition to Vesperon was causing us some problems and by that time there weren't enough DPS to take out the guy in Vesperon's portal before the tanks died. Perhaps next week, on a night when we have enough healers, we can do Sarth +2.

Life and Death

This is not about life and death, but it is about Life and Death, the main hand weapon in WoW. Last week I spent all of my dkp but, I finally got the Valorous Frostfire Circlet. Its ugly, so I have it turned off. It does wonderful things and now I have Life and Death and the Surplus Limb to replace my Sulfur Staff. I'll probably never get rid of the Sulfur Staff because the animation on it is just too cool. (Who doesn't want randomly flapping wings on their staff?) So I now have bonus damage of almost 2000 with the Mighty Spell Power Enchantment. Yay! I got Life and Death for a steal too, just 6 dkp.

We got through 3 wings Naxx last night and only 1 wipe. We had new people in back for the Four Horsemen and they weren't all sure what to do. Not all of them were new to the fight, just new to being in the back. It seems last weeks drama has been swept under the rug. Hopefully, its resolved. *crosses fingers

I am 29 quests away from getting the Northrend Loremaster Achievement and I can't find any more quests! I just don't get it. I've flown over the entire Icecrown area and only dailies are showing up. Although I do have 2 group quests to complete. I didn't see anything in the notes that they open up more quest hubs/lines. I've done every daily once and I can't see recounting them once they've been done. I guess I'll have to get DH to finish those two quests up and hope they open either another hub or a couple of other lines. Its just so frustrating.

Face of the Day

I did not post yesterday's FotD because I didn't think it came out quite right. I'll work on improving it, then post when I come up with something that works.

Eyes: Prime lids with UDPP. Fill in eyebrows. Apply a thin layer of Painterly Paint Pot. Apply Hush eye shadow under the brow to highlight. Apply Arctic Grey eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eye, then a light layer of Fineshine eye shadow over the top. On the middle third apply Apres-ski blending out and up. Next blend a light layer of Knight eye shadow on to the outer third of the lid. Knight Divine eye shadow goes into the crease and along the upper lash line. Blend well. Line the upper lash line with Graphblack Technakohl liner. Curl lashes and apply 2 coats of black mascara.

Face: Prime face with MAC Prep+Prime. Mix half and half MAC Face and Body Foundation and your favorite face moisturizer and apply to face. Using a large fluffy face brush, dust on MAC Mineralize Skinfinish. Apply Colour Form Powder in Play Around Pink to cheeks, chin, nose and forehead. Apply Gentle mineralize blush to cheeks and hightlight with Spectacle highlight powder. Blend all over face with a kabuki brush and set everything with Make Up Forever HD Microfinish Powder.

Lips: Pop Circle lipstick with Culture Clash lipglass over it.

WonderCon! (For those of us who can't make it to ComicCon)

We went to WonderCon on Saturday. I was sooooo exicted. I've gone to a couple of these now and am usually on the lookout for more art and artists for signed items. Well, DH got his original sketches from Stan Sakai and Sergio Aragones. Two of his very favorite. I stumbled upon Frank Beddor, who writes the Looking Glass Wars. I couldn't believe it! I was sooo shocked but, it made sense after looking at what was on his table. He had his books and also he collaborated to create another triology, comic book style, based on Hatter Madigan and Alyss's Journal. So, I got both the first trade paperback of the Hatter M. series and Alyss's Journal, signed. I found out about the website with a MMO game and card game....talk about massive overload. There were others there, but nothing else really caught my eye.

We went to SF with my BF, D., another comic geek friend, J. and his friend. D. wanted to go just for the experience, he's not into comic books. He had his fill by 2pm, so he and I went wandering outside the Moscone Center. We stopped at a tea house called Samovar in the Yerba Buena Gardens. It was wonderful. I want to go back to try some of their other foods. I just had a pot of their Moroccan Mint Tea and their plate of tea cookies. Yum! D. had a pot of chai and yummy mint salad.

D. and I also found a gorgeous glass gallery. The gallery is called Liuli after a chinese form of molding the glass. Their museum pieces were so impressive. They also had, what they called, collector's pieces. It was work that they were selling. I would love to have one of their pieces. For the works themselves, the prices were really reasonable. They had some beautiful tea sets as well, mostly ceramic or china.

Face of the Day

This look uses the Cult of Cherry Tempting Quad.

Eyes: Apply a thin layer of UDPP all over the lid. Fill in eyebrows. Apply a thin layer of Painterly paint pot of the entire lid, blending out the edges. Using a MAC 239 brush, apply Next to Nothing eye shadow to the inner corner of the eye lid and under the brows to highlight. Apply Sharp eyeshadow to the middle and outer lid. Blend Sharp in towards Next to Nothing. Next apply Dark Edge to the outer third of the eyelid and sweep out and up toward the crease and the area above the crease. Place Tempting eyeshadow in the crease. Blend well. Apply Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eyeliner in Pearly Brown to the upper lash line. Top the brown eyeliner with Her Glitz glitter liner. On the lower water line apply Make Up For Ever Aqua Eye eyeliner in Pistachio. Curl eyelashes and apply two coats of Plush Lash in Brownette.

Face: Prime face with MAC Prep+Prime. Apply Face and Body/moisturizer mix to face. Dust Mineralize Skinfinish over the top. Lightly apply Plum du Bois Beauty Powder Blush to cheeks. Set everything with MUFE HD Microfinish Powder.

Lips: Line lips with Burgundy lip pencil. Apply Chignon lipstick let set for 30 seconds, wipe off and apply again, repeat until you have the desired darkness. Apply Quick Tease Lipglass over the top.

Speed Run Through Naxx

Last night was not a good night. First we had enough interest and applicants to run both heroic and regular Naxx, unfortunately I think everyone was more interested in running the heroic and saving the regular for the weekends, so only the heroic went. Then to cause more confusion, besides the disconnecting and lag due to Wintergrasp, one officer started the invites and DH had to work with what we started with, almost 20 people at that point. It was very confusing and several officers and raiders dropped to allow trials with new applicants. Another issue also surfacing tonight was the volume of new applicants has increased significantly. I think its becoming unwieldly for the way the guild is run now, but that's just my opinion. Meanwhile, I was also getting dinner for the two of us. Then all of a sudden, the main tank (also an officer) running the raid and DH decided to go. No warning, just pulling trash mobs! Not everybody had zoned in or had buffs and as we moved we were told there would be time before the first boss to buff and do other things. I could have lived with that, as I had promised one of the other officers to make flasks for him, but that's not what happened! Instead we got to the first boss and then DH was saying we're going in ten seconds. I had just started to make the flasks. Both the officer and I protested, but to no avail. I had to wait to finish the flasks trade them back over and then we got into the fight. I hadn't taken my own flask, nor did I have a food buff. The officers decided to discuss this in the officer channel after we completed the wing. I had yet to decide how I was going to deal with DH and there were too many other things going on to talk to him about it at the time.

The next problem we encountered was when a purple bind on pickup dropped in the first mobs after the first boss. DH as master looter was still auctioning the items from the first boss and so wasn't there. When they finally did auction it off, the person who won it couldn't pick it up. Both DH and the player sent in help tickets. Both were then told later by GMs that the other would have to send in a ticket and they would fix it from their end. Needless to say, it was still not fixed by the end of the night.

My next issue, is my own, I haven't decided yet if this became an issue because of the other problems last night or if it has been stewing for a while now. Basically, DH is a priest, lately he has been going as DPS and not healer, but that's has nothing to do with the issue. I'm consistently the last to get healed and the last to get resurrected. Yes, there's an order for resurrecting and the healers do the best they can to heal everyone. But I think everyone is expecting a little nepotism and he would automatically heal or resurrect me next. That has not been the case and DH doesn't feel its appropriate to show me ANY favoritism. Its just a game and we're not supposed to be a hard core raiding guild. Show me some love!

The last issue is what I think created all these other little problems, or at least exasperated them. DH and the main tank saw a video on speed runs through Naxx and were determined to try some of the ideas it gave. It didn't speed anything up. In fact, we slowed down. We completed three Quarters last week, Spider, Plague and Military, on the first night. Yesterday, we didn't get to the last boss in the Military Quarter. Instructor Rasuvius held us up. We wiped a couple of times on him.

I think I've decided we need to discuss this, but I'm not sure I'm ready to do this in person. I'm considering emailing him, but I don't think that's appropriate either. I know he is still stewing on the officers discussion, and that may be what's making me hold up having this discussion with him. I don't want to make it too much for him. He's still a little sick from his cold last week and I made him stay home from work yesterday because he still didn't sound good.

Icecrown sucks!

After spending many hours doing quests in Icecrown, I've only completed 80 of the 140 needed to get the achievement. I couldn't figure out why some were counting and others were not, until I read the achievement, 'Icecrown Glacier' quests. Okaaaaay, so what is that supposed to mean? Obviously, not every quest in Icecrown counts but how can I tell if it will or not? Some of the smaller Icecrown quest hubs do not count for this achievement, unlike the other areas where you have to find every last quest hub to make the Achievment. Any of the small hubs that send you outside Icecrown itself and any going to Onslaught Harbor don't seem to count, but I have not found a pattern. Its all trial and error. :P

Right now I'm working all the quest lines that start with the airship. I only have three left in my log and none seem to send me anywhere that I haven't already been to.

Face of the Day

Eyes: Apply a thin layer of UDPP over the entire lid. While waiting for that to dry, fill in brows. Next apply Painterly Paint Pot over the entire lid, blending it out at the edges. Using a MAC 239 brush dab Next To Nothing eye shadow in the corners of the eye and underneath the eye brow to highlight. Next place Satin Taupe eye shadow on the rest of the lid blending up toward the crease. Next use Showstopper eye shadow on the outer third of the lid. Place Smoking eye shadow on the crease and along the lower lash line. Blend everything well. Line the upper lash line and the outer lower water line with Graphblack Technakohl liner. Set with another swipe of Smoking eye shadow over the liner and blend out the lower liner. Curl eye lashes and apply 2 coats of black mascara (my current favorite is Zoom Lash).

Face: Prime face with MAC Prep+Prime. Mix half and half MAC Face and Body Foundation and your favorite face moisturizer and apply to face. Using a large fluffy face brush, dust on MAC Mineralize Skinfinish. Apply MAC mineralize blush in gentle to cheeks. Then highlight cheeks, forehead nose and chin with Spectacle! Highlighter. Blend all over face with a kabuki brush and set everything with Make Up Forever HD Microfinish Powder.

Lips: Big Bow lipstick

Fishing, Farming and Fighting

Fishing....I got my fishing skill up to 450, now I just need to fulfill the rest of the achievements under that profession. There are many I have yet to complete. Although, I'm getting closer on the coins from the Dalaran Fountain. I need to start farming more fish. Those apparently sell really well on the Auction House. DH plays the markets, buys low and sells high. I'm so proud! We've even created our own banking guild. My bank alt is in it and I have plans to begin some buying and selling. I think I need to start her off with some seed items, so I'll farm for her next weekend. :)

Farming....Well, I managed to farm enough stuff to last a long while. I've got an extra stack of everything in the bank. There is almost a complete stack of Frost Lotuses just waiting to be made into flasks. I may even turn some in for extra dkp. I haven't decided yet. I'll probably still do a little farming here and there to keep up my stocks and add fish later as well.

I LOVE farming shoveltusk meat! The herds are easy to find and fun to AoE.

Fighting....I did a bunch of low level instances, all the ones in the southern part of the Eastern Kingdom and one up north. I made a good attempt at Scholomance, I even went to the trouble of getting the key! But as I'm a mage, those risen abberations caused too much trouble for me. They take no damage due to spells and my skill in Staves is no where near enough to take all of them down. I'll have to get DH to come with me and finish that one off. There are a couple of others, I'll need a group to do, but I'm sure I can find guildies willing to go.

I also helped out with a 10-man Naxx for Guildie Alts and Social Members. It went pretty well. We got through three wings on Saturday after getting really stuck on Four Horsemen. Sunday we did the Construct Quarter without too much trouble, even though we had some people who were new to the fights. Sapphiron went down in one try. Kel'thuzad took a little more work and alot more dying, but with the threat of the last try we finally got him down!

I finally convinced myself to work on the Icecrown quest achievement. I did pretty good, its just that I don't particularly care for the area. Plus, the quest line I just happen to be following took me all over the world! I had gone to Moonglade, Shattrath, Dragonblight and Crystal Song Forest completing parts of the quest line by the time I had finished. Next I'll be working on the ones from the airship. Its such a pain to find the airship. I was looking all over Icecrown before I finally found it.

Olive and Gold Eyes

Prime eyelids with Urban Decay's Primer Potion. With a stiff short haired brush, apply Painterly Paint Pot to the entire lid. Using a small fluffy eyeshadow brush, dust Gold Dust pigment on the inside corner of the eyelid and under the eyebrows for highlighting. With the same brush dust Gold Mode pigment on the middle and outside third of the eyelid. Place Retrospeck eyeshadow over the Gold Dust pigment using a short stiff pencil brush. Next using the same pencil brush, brush on Goldmine eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid. With a large fluffy blending brush, blend goldmine and Retrospeck at the edge where they meet. Using a pencil brush, apply Sumptuous Olive to the outer third of the eyelid and blend with the blending brush. Apply Mink and Sable eyeshadow to the crease, along the upper lash line and along the lower outer lash line. Blend well. Line the upper lash line with Molten Sol Liquidlast Liner. Once the liquid eye liner is dry go over the top of it with a gold glitter eye liner. Prime eyelashes, then curl them and apply two coats of Plush Lash Mascara in Brownette.

Plagued by the Construct Quarter

Patchwerk was a problem this week. We wiped twice on him because one tank would go down and then the rest would follow. We wiped a third time because someone didn't listen to the raid leaders and released instead of waiting to be resurrected. They were stuck on the the other side of the slime room, then other ranged dps got too close to the slimes and we all started to die when we couldn't down them before they got to the rest of us.

Grobbulus went well and we took him down in one shot. Gluth, however, took us forever. The raid leaders forgot that we seem to only be successful when a tank is in the back kiting the zombies along with a combination of death knights and hunters. We made several attempts at other combinations without a tank and weren't getting anywhere.

Hopefully tonight, we can finish Naxx and do Obsidian Sanctum and make an attempt at Malygos.

It would be nice if we can get into a good pattern of completing Naxx and Obsidian Sanctum in two nights. That would give us the time to work on The Eye of Eternity and do a quick run of The Vault first thing on the third night. The Vault and Obsidian Sanctum would be interchangeable as it would depend on when the Alliance had control of Wintergrasp.

The guild is getting everyone into a pattern for completing all the endgame content in three days. We want to start farming these instances. We're really close on Naxx. Just need to get Construct Quarter down. Sapphiron and Kel'thuzad haven't been much of an issue after we downed them the first time. We are working on doing one add with Sartharion in Obsidian Sanctum, but I think once we get the hang of things adding one more each week until we're doing them all at once will be easy. We have yet to down Malygos in The Eye of Eternity. I'm sure we're ready, we just haven't figured him out as a group yet.

Meanwhile, my plan to stockpile raid consumables is going well. I have a stack of Great Feasts in my bag I just need to farm more meat to make my stack for the bank. I'm in a similar place with the Tender Shoveltusk Steaks. I need to do some more fishing, I have yet to make my stack of Firecraker Salmon or any of the other fish food. I don't yet have the skill for the fish feast. I think once I have all the materials for the other raid food stacks that I want and make them all up at the same time, I should be ready for it. I have my stack of Spell Power Elixers for my bag and am working on getting enough materials for the bank stack. I have almost 20 Flasks of the Frost Wyrm in the bank, so I'm pretty happy with that. It'll just be a matter of keeping everything up.

Heroic Naxx: The Quarters

We're getting really fast, going through Naxx. We did three quarters in two hours last night. We probably could have done part of the last quarter, but we got hung up on the Four Horsemen. We had a couple of people who had never done them before and got confused and there was a missed pickup. Once we got that sorted out, killing them was pretty simple. We took down the front two, Thane and Baron, simultaneously and then everyone focused on the back two. I think next week we'll try in earnest to get the Spider Quarter Achievement, clear the quarter in less than 20 minutes.

I got my wand last night, the Gemmed Wand of the Nerubians. Yay! I only paid 20 dkp, I think. It was totally worth the price. I now have the best wand for spell casters and something to replace the blue wand I've had since I first started doing Heroics.

MAC Makeup Application

Friday, I went to MAC with an appointment for makeup application using their new products (Hello Kitty and Cream Team Collections). Anna, the makeup artist, was great, very friendly and listened to what I had to say. I got a look that I can wear to work everyday and change it up with a little color for weekends and evenings. I think I may need to pick up the 219 brush and the lip products. I'm dying to do the lips again. I bought Prep + Prime Skin, Her Glitz glitter liner and Tippy Beauty Powder, that day.

Eyes: Prep the eyelid with Bare Canvas Paint. Using the Lucky Tom Palette from the Hello Kitty Collection and a 219 Brush, place the lightest color, Creme Royal, on the inner corner of the eye lid and under the brow. Next, place Paradisco on the middle third of the lid and blend with Creme Royal. On the outer third of the eyelid and outer crease blend Lucky Tom. Here, you can push Lucky Tom in further for a smokier, heavier look (evening) or pull it out, for a fresher, look. Line the upper lash line with Graphblack Technakohl Liner, then go over it with Her Glitz Glitter Liner. Blend a little more Lucky Tom along the lower outer lash line and swipe on some black mascara, my current favorite is Zoomlash.

Face: Prep face with moisturizer mixed with Prep+Prime Skin. Smooth Face and Body into skin with fingers and dust with Mineralize Skinfinish to set. Lightly brush on Tippy Beauty Powder Blush.

Lips: Line lips with Creamstick Liner in Sublime Culture. Then put on Shy Girl Lipstick and top with Partial to Pink Creamsheen Glass.

Grrrr...People are Annoying!

I play to for stress relief from work and fun. I'm part of a guild that has both social and raider contingents. I'm a raider. I love that the officers take care of everything. I do not want the responsibility or extra stress involved with running a guild. My hubby is an officer within the guild, so we talk, but I leave everything up to him and the other officers. I make sure that I make as many raids as possible and that I am prepared. I always have food with appropriate buffs, flasks and elixers, and any extra gear. I realize not everyone is as organized as I am, or as anal about being prepared, but its extra annoying if people are consistently not prepared. The officers have even started charging dkp for items.

Another little annoyance is leaving early. We have regular nights and times, if you can't make it the whole time, tell an officer so they can address the situation appropriately before we get started. There are enough people that want to raid that we usually bench some and they are able and willing to be there the whole time. It slows everything down if we have to go find a replacement and summon them. Especially if we have to do it more than once. I understand emergencies happen and disconecting too much, those don't bother me. It's the other excuses and especially if they make the same ones.

Druids! Ugh, I just don't understand why Blizzard allows them to gather herbs while still in flight form. The rest of the classes have to dismount, gather the herb and then remount. Grrr! I've had more herbs stolen out from under me because they don't have to dismount (I suppose its actually changing forms, but same idea). I wish they would change that to give everyone a level playing field.

Malygos just won't die :(

So, we now have two 10-man Eye of Eternity keys and one 25-man Eye of Eternity key. Last night we tried the 25-man Eye of Eternity. There is only one 'boss' to kill there and he is a pain. Malygos, has three phases and enrages at 10 minutes. The first phase goes pretty well and we were really getting the hang of stacking the spark buffs. When he gets below 50% it goes to phase two. This is where we are having problems. Malygos goes away and he spawns adds on flying discs. We can't seem to get them down fast enough. The best we've done so far is to clear phase two with 1 minute 40 seconds left on his enrage timer. This doesn't leave enough time to take Malygos the rest of the way down.

I think another week of clearing Heroic Naxx will help gear us up for downing Malygos. It certainly can't hurt. I know I'd like to replace my leg and head gear this week, which should be doable. I can buy the Valorous legguards soon and I'll have to hope that a head piece drops. At this point the only other item I would bid on would be a good main hand weapon. Okay, maybe not the only one as I'd replace my cloak too if the right item drops.

Taking Care of Hubby

Yesterday I stayed home to take care of my husband. He wasn't feeling very good. So, I got some things done around the house. I did a little bit of laundry and made breakfast and tea for him. The dogs were thrilled we stayed home just to play with them. They wouldn't stop bouncing off the walls, until I took a nap with them around 4pm. Fortunately, DH is very low maintenance when he's sick. He'd just as soon prefer to be left alone.

I did get some time to work on my mage. She got an achievement yesterday for killing 15 turkeys in 3 minutes. I believe its called "Friend or Fowl?". I'm almost done with all the quests in Howling Fjord. I'm missing about 15 quests from somewhere. There must be a quest hub that I either haven't finished or reopened at some point. Once I've completed the Howling Fjord quest achievement I'll move on to Grizzly Hills and finish up Northrend with Ice Crown.

Last night I went to my first MAC unveiling party. It was for the Hello Kitty collection. It was a zoo! I think I'll either try to get an earlier slot or not go at all next time. I got almost everything I wanted, but they put the wrong nail polish in my bag. I wanted the gray color, On the Prowl and not the pink one. I need to call them up and see if they can hold a replacement for me. :P

I was not impressed with the Cream Team collection. I may pick up a creamsheen gloss, later, but that will probably be it.

MAC BBR & HK

I finally went in to pick up my BBR stuff. I ended up with Chignon and What A Do! lipsticks, Soft Wave and Quick Tease lipglasses, and Henna, Knight and 100 Strokes eyeshadows. Four of them were Back2MAC, so yay! I spent less than 50 dollars. I'm adoring 100 Strokes, in fact, that's the main shadow I'm wearing today.

Today's eye look is a heavy wide swatch of 100 Strokes just above the upper lash line. Then I did a thinner line of Trax above it and between the eyebrow highlighter (Solar White) and Trax I blended Lotusland. I then did a small cat eye liner with MUFE Aqua Eyes in Black Plum on top and brought it partially down to the lower lash line. I used Zoom Lash mascara in black.

While at the MAC store I was able to score myself a place at the Hello Kitty pre-sale unveiling party (February 3rd) and a make over with the products for the following week. Yay! Maybe they'll have a wearable look with the two eyeshadow quads. I'm a little nervous about getting them, as I wouldn't normally combine the colors they put together.

I'll be looking at some of the collection, but not buying a huge amount. I'll check out 5 of the 6 lipsticks, though I'll only pick up 1 or 2. Big bow is the only one that wasn't a color I would wear. Sweet Strawberry, Mimmy and Fast Friends lipglasses will be on the list for review. I doubt I'll get more than 1 or 2 as well. Possibly one of the quads, but like I said before the color combinations make me a little leary without swatches. I might check out the gold glitter liner, Her Glitz, but I don't know if I'll pick it up. There are two items I absolutely must have and they are the brush set and the gray nail polish, On The Prowl. Yum!

Television night

Once a week we have a 'tv night'. We watch all the shows we've been recording on the DVR. This little device, courtesy of AT&T, has been the perfect addition to my tech entertainment collection. We've been recording Battlestar Galactica, Boston Legal, and Doctor Who (BBC version). All of these shows have been great so far.

BSG is on its last season and what a season its been so far! I'm going to be sad when its all done. This is another series that I will eventually get and watch over and over again.

Boston Legal, I've been watching off and on for a while. I will probably just rent the seasons through Netflix as I doubt I'll watch them over and over. Its still very entertaining and intelligent. I hesitate to compare it to 'Friends', but it would end up in the same order of watchability for me. If there's nothing else on or its running at a syndicated time, I'll watch it otherwise its just a easily skipped.

Doctor Who has been a rare find, stumbled upon by a friend while flipping through stations. I would love to get the previous seasons and watch it from the beginning. It is very well thought out and not overly cheesy like the original version. I couldn't ever watch that. I think I'd watch this one over and over again.

There are several other shows that have yet to make the list for 'tv night'. Among them are Bones, House, Heroes, and Supernatural. House and Bones probably won't ever make it because the friend that comes over for 'tv night' doesn't particularly care for the shows. Heroes and Supernatural may make it yet, but we need to catch up on previous seasons before we start recording those.

Thursday = Friday this week

I'm on an alternate work week schedule, that allows me to take off every other Friday. I end up working 9 hours Monday-Thursday and the opposite Fridays are 8 hours. I really enjoy the schedule. It allows me to get more done on those 3 day weekends. I get to stay up later tonight and then tomorrow I have errands to run.

I'm finally going to pick up my Brunette, Blonde, and Redhead items from MAC. I know, the next collections, Cream Team and Well-Defined will be out next week, but I've been soooo busy. Its a good thing nothing's sold out yet. On my list is What A Do! lipstick, Quick Tease lipglass, Soft Wave lipglass, Red Devil lipglass, Strawberry Blonde lipglass, Flip eyeshadow, French Cuff eyeshadow, and 100 Strokes eyeshadow. I may look at Henna eyeshadow.

I will have to stop by next week or order online Cream Team lipsticks and lipglasses. I think I'll wait on the Studio Sculpt Foundation and concealer until I need new foundation. As much as I'd like to try them, I can't justify buying new, when I already have 2 bottles.

Last night we downed 3 more bosses in Naxx. We got stuck at the very beginning on The Four Horsemen. We had several people who had never done them before and a one who had never raided before, so the first couple of tries were learning experiences. Fortunately, the guild officer in charge of the bank opened the guild bank for repairs for the night. That definitely helped with the costs associated with raiding and I appreciated it. We wiped on them 5 times before we got them down. After that, the Construct Quarter. Patchwerk went down without too much trouble although it was close to the enrage timer. Globbulous went really well as did Gluth. No wipes so far in the Construct Quarter. Tonight is Thaddeus and Saphiron and hopefully Kel'Thuzad. It'd be really great if we could finish Naxx tonight and get the key to 25-man Malygos.

I think the goal right now for the guild is to get the raids on 'farm mode'. OS is at that point and if we can finish Naxx tonight, we'll be really close to being able to farm it for both 10-man and 25-man. I think they are trying to set it up so that Tuesday-Thursday we do 25-man raids, all of them in 3 days would be ideal. Then on the weekends and non-official raid nights get into 10-mans and run those for those who can't make regular raid nights, but would still like to raid.

Late nights make for early mornings

We had a great 25-man Naxx group last night! We got through the Spider, Plague, and the first two bosses of the Miltary Quarter. Although we finished up later than our usual time, it was still impressive we moved as fast as we did. We had no wipes but a few deaths here and there. Hopefully we can continue this pace tonight and get a try at Saphiron.

I got my Valorous Frostfire Gloves, now I need the Valorous Robe. I'll take whatever I can get for the Circlet and the Leggings as those seem to be the hardest to get. I need to take another look at my weapon. I may switch to a one-handed weapon and an offset, if and when I get the chance.

I realized last night that I need to clean up my bank bags and possibly get another slot and bag. I'll have to see if my hubby has any bags he can spare off his tailor. Things are sort of all over the place. I rarely, if ever, switch items out. Some I want to keep just because.

Part of the bank reorganization will also be to take stock of what I have and what I need for cooking and alchemy. I'm already working on a spreadsheet that will help me track what I need to farm next in order to keep up with Raids during the week.

Tonight I need to get 15 Lichbloom and 15 Icethorn and 3 Frost Lotus for flasks for Thursday night. At the very least I need to make good headway on that so I have flasks for myself and hubby for Thursday night's raid.

Exercise cuts into my WoW time

The DH insisted I take the dogs out for a walk yesterday evening. He was hoping the exercise and air would clear out my tiredness and grumpy mood. It only served to further make me unhappy. Both dogs chose to drag me through the entire neighborhood. I couldn't get them to stop pulling on their leashes. Every time I stopped one or both would get entangled in the leases forcing another stop to untangle dogs and leashes. Then, while trying to keep them untangled I got lost. What was supposed to be a nice easy 20 minute walk, turned into a 45 minute, "Where the hell am I going?", race through my neighborhood. Needless to say, I was hurting, and in a worse mood when I got home.

About an hour and a half later, we received a phone call that someone had picked up one of our dogs wandering the streets. I had apparently not closed the side gate all the way and Gaz decided to take a stroll on her own!

The guild had scheduled a time try to finish our 25 man Naxx, last night, even though our regular raid times are Tuesday - Thursday. We didn't have enough people on to do it so I worked on other things. I wasn't able to get in a group for any instances, but I completed quite a few other things on my "To Do" list. I have revered status with The Oracles now and will need to buy my first Mysterious Egg tonight. I'm aiming to get all the pets and the mounts before I switch over to get the Frenzyheart Achievements. I may switch back to The Oracles, after I complete the Frenzyheart, because those pets go for a lot on the AH. I completed exploring Northrend, so now I have the tabbard and I'll need to find the rare mobs to complete all the Northrend Exploration Achievements. I'm working my way through exploring the Eastern Kingdom. I believe I only have three more zones, Ghostlands, Eversong Woods, and Badlands. I have all of the Eastern Kingdoms' Elder Coins now as well. Amassing all the achievements, is a rather daunting task, but I think that's primarily what's keeping me in the game. Once I complete it all for my main, I'll start leveling my alts from their current levels of 60 and 40. I probably won't do all the achivements for them, but we'll see.

A WoW Weekend

We did it! Friday night we took down Saphiron, and on the first try. It took another couple of tries, but we finished Kel'Thuzad and Naxx. We now have the key (albeit only one in the guild) to 10-man Malygos the current final boss for WotLK. We made a good attempt at Malygos on Saturday evening and got to the third and final stage. We were not, however, able to take him down before he enraged. We'll try again next weekend, sometimes a little break helps everyone refocus and figure out what they were doing wrong before. Hopefully, like Saphiron we'll be able to take him down next weekend with little trouble and only a couple of tries.

Fishing went well, though I did not get as far as I had hoped. I'm currently sitting at 375 and I doubt I'll get a chance to improve it until next weekend. I fished at Valiance Keep and picked up some of the rarer fish for a fish feast once I'm skilled enough at cooking and have bought the recipe. For now, I'll just save them in the bank.

Speaking of saving, I had saved all the the Sons of Hodir Relics I accumulated while increasing my reputation with them to exalted. I had two stacks of 200 and with the new patch, they are no longer soulbound and available to sell. So a few were sent to a guildie to complete her rep status and the rest were sold to another guildie, so he wouldn't have to do the dailies with them. Yay!

This weekend also began the Lunar Festival. I'm actually almost done with all the achievements and will hopefully have my title soon. I have one more Elder to visit in the Eastern Kingdom and five more instances to find the Elders in them and get their coins. Not bad for one weekend, considering all the traveling it requires. I'm also trying to finish the Eastern Kingdom Explorer achievement as I go. I was almost done while I was working on the Winter Veil Achievement, but did not have time to finish.

"Skills to Pay the Bills"

Yay! I finally achieved my final Grand Mastery for this achievement. I hit fishing skill 350 last night. Although I still can't fish in Dalaran, I may try Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra. This'll be so I can start farming the fish I need for feasts, raid food and the emotion food for the achievement my hubby's been selling with his bank alt. At 20g each(1 each of the four foods necessary to get the achievement), last night alone he made 160g.

I ended up leveling my fishing skill in Iron Forge for two reasons, one for more attempts at catching Old Ironjaw and two because the Northrend server kept crashing. A new patch was released yesterday and between that and the normal instability caused by Wintergrasp, the server kept crashing every few minutes. They finally just shut down Wintergrasp and are attempting to fix it. Personally, I think Wintergrasp should be on a separate server, but I understand that making that switch would be very difficult.

We were able to raid, although not Heroic Naxx, too much lag on the instance servers and not enough healers. We did another 10-man Naxx. We got through 2 and 1/3 Quarters (Spider, Plague, and the first boss of Military). We dragged one of our newly 80 druids through it by sheer force of will, he was not geared at all, but everyone else was experienced and geared. It was fun and it seemed Naxx was in on it, as primarily leather gear kept dropping. I love seeing others' toons getting geared. Although, if something drops for me, look out, I will snatch it up. :)

Long weekends and everything else under the sun

Monday was a holiday for me (Yay, government job!) and Friday was my day off (I work a 9/80 schedule). I had such grand plans for the long weekend, too bad I only seem capable of partially following through. I was going to clean up the office and make a space where I could do meditation. I only got to the mostly cleaning up the office. I was going to do the laundry and iron clothes. I did the laundry, no ironing action happened. I was going to clean off the dining room table, well, its mostly clean, but there are still a few piles of stuff on it. I was going to put away decorations, that didn't even come close to happening. I was able to work on my knitting project. I'm knitting a slip dress pattern from Knitting Lingerie Style by Joan McGowan Michael. I'm almost done with the front. The back is complete. Maybe next weekend I'll finish the front...

I accomplished much in WoW, although not all planned. I completed all daily cooking quests for both Northrend and Outland, that checked off two more achievements. Yay! While doing the Northrend cooking daily I also did the explore achievement for one of the areas (I forget which one, it was for the quest Manalicious). My cooking skill is now up to 400, so I started using the Dalaran Cooking Awards to buy new recipes and cook them up as I find the ingredients. I did the Heroic (25-man) Archavon, or the Vault. Also completed all four quarters of the 10-man Naxx (I have no idea how to spell the full name). We couldn't quite get Saphiron down, but I'm sure we'll try again this weekend. We kept butting our heads against him, not sure if we're lacking the right group makeup, gear or talent (maybe some combo?) . I have exalted status with both the Wyrmrest Accord and the Kal'uka (Yay! I have Pengu - so cute!). I finished all the quests in Sholazzar Basin (In To the Basin Achievement) and am now working on the Oracles to get exalted with them, so I can buy Mysterious Eggs (more pets and possibly a mount). I started completing quests in Howling Fjord. I did not get my fishing up to 350 nor have I caught Old Ironjaw, but I'm quite a bit closer. My fishing skill is now 345 and if I push I should be able to get 350 by the end of the week. I'll have to see how much time I have this week.

My package from MAC's New Year's 25% off online sale arrived yesterday. I bought the rest of their Dame Edna collection (<3 her!) and two LE blushes (Plum du Blois and Blooming), Vellum eyeshadow (LE), and several travel sized pots for my pigments and loose powders. I find smaller pots easier to deal with on a regular basis rather than the full pot. I think I'm going to Back2MAC most of their newest collection, Brunette, Blonde and Redhead (BBR).

From Anathema to Eragon...

I finished Anathema with some mixed thoughts. The ending while, seemingly predictable, had some random events that when explained later made sense. Either everyone would die, with no conclusion, or the world designed by the author would have to change dramatically to continue to progress. I found some comfort in the knowledge that Earth was neither the first nor the last to go through the upheavals created by the dimension travelers. It was also nice to see that they all found a place in the end.

I bought, several months ago, the boxed Eragon Trilogy. I bought it online and had assumed it would arrive as soon as it was released, unfortunately I didn't read the fine print. The website would only ship, once everything was ready to go out at the same time, in one box and I couldn't cancel the order because there were items that could be shipped within 24 hours. I was stuck waiting for the entire shipment to arrive, so that I could then return the books that I re-bought at a store while I waited. Fortunately, for the website, I had not had a chance to read this trilogy and had not re-purchased it.

I read Eragon in two days, I've read it once before and was excited to refresh my memory of the book in preparation for reading the third in the series. I've seen the movie and I am disappointed I will never get that time back. It was terrible. They cut so much from the book there almost wasn't enough left to consider it based on the book other than the characters names! Very upsetting considering there have been several movies made based on fantasy books or even comic books that were done really well.

Today, I started Eldest...next stop Brsinger!

Fishing in WoW

So, I couldn't even keep up with one day of my fishing goal. It isn't entirely my fault, I was working on my daily cooking quest and the dailies with the walrus people (A few more days and I'll be exalted, Pengu, here I come!!!) when a couple of guildies wanted to run heroics. How could I say "No"? So off I went while roping in the DH to run Heroic Nexus and The Culling of Stratholme. I keep missing the achievement with Keristraza in the Nexus and we didn't make the timer for the Caverns of Time, but we made a good effort to get it. We might have made it, but the tank got a little over excited at the end and tried to just push through all the elite trash as Stratholme burned. Not good, because we wiped, but now we know not to do that for next time. Oh well.

Back to my fishing issue. I'm still not high enough level to get out of the old kingdom to fish, so getting back and forth is kind of a pain. Yes, I know I have it easier as a mage, but that doesn't mean I want to constantly teleport to places. Maybe tonight I'll get a chance to do some fishing before raid starts. (Ha, not likely, and now that I've written it down, almost impossible! :P) it'll get done this weekend. I have a long weekend, so I could work on fishing all day Friday and not feel guilty - or at least not too much. Plus, I'll need to do the daily cooking quests in Shattrath. I only need to complete 2 more to get that achievement.

If I can get my fishing skill up, so I can fish in Northrend, there are tons of achivements I can complete and I'll have lots of fish for cooking raid food with. Always a good thing!

MAC (Cosmetics not computers)

About 6 months ago I found a new obsession - makeup. Not just any makeup, it has to be MAC. I've always used them, but for some reason last June I really started to pay attention to them. I branched out from my very basic (read, only the necessities) collection to having to reorganize and expand the shelving and containers in my bathroom to encompass my quickly expanding stash.

Quantitatively, I started with 1 blush, 2 eyeshadows, and foundation. Now I have 10 blushes, over 50 eyeshadows, 2 foundations, 10 mascaras, and dozens of eyeliners, lipsticks, lipglosses and other miscellaneous items. I'm on all kinds of mailing lists for different makep companies and I follow several beauty blogs.

I do not plan on this blog becoming another beauty blog. I may from time-to-time review products, but I doubt I'll ever put up pictures. That's not the direction I want to take this blog.

Last week, I put in two orders, one at Sephora and one with MAC online (they were having a sale - this is rare enough that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to pick up some items from their permanent collection). The order from Sephora is scheduled to arrive on Thursday and MAC will be here Monday. I'm sooooo excited!!

The Sephora order was small, but I'm in need of a new exfoliator for my body. The last one I tried I had an allergic reaction to it. The one I ordered, The White Ball, by Ojon Tawaka, is supposed to be mostly natural and organic products. I've heard great things about it. I'm currently trying out their hair products as well. So far, so good. The other item I purchased was an eyeshadow dou by NARS call Jolie Poupee (purples). Another item I've heard great things about that I've wanted to try.

MAC had 25% off everything online, so I bought lots. I filled out the items I was missing from the Dame Edna collection (Love her!) and picked up couple more blushes and accessory type items I've been lemming. Yay!

WoW

Yes! I am a WoW addict. Although, I must admit, that I started as a way to connect with my hubby more often. He was playing every night while sitting next to me as I watched a movie or tv. Three nights a week he would rush home and I would have to make dinner and put it in front of him, so that he could make raid nights with his guild. I was both happy that he had a hobby/addiction that could be easily done anywhere, but sad that we didn't spend much time communicating. Now, I'm in it for the achievements. I want them all!

I thought I'd start with the exploration ones and level up my cooking and fishing at the same time, since I needed to go back to the old world anyway. That didn't happen. I have a short attention span and fishing sucks. So, I have maybe half of the old world explored, with no rhyme or reason, just random areas.

My cooking skills are doing pretty good, but that was by freely spending money on auction house purchases to get me where I wanted to be. I'm still about 90 points shy of topping out that skill, but at least I can work on the dailies at both Shattrath and Dalaran.

Fishing is one of the worst things for me to do, but I want those achievements. I have 40 points to go til I can train for the Grand Master Fisherman. I've made it my goal to do 10 points a night for the next 4 days. It may not last 2 days, but at least I'll be that much closer.

Surprisingly, the easiest ones to get have been the random ones. Either running Heroic Instances or completing quests. Both of which I enjoy doing. I get my social interaction and complete achievements as I go. (Yes, the hubby does the quests with me, now.)

Oh, my goal for this year is to complete every achievement for every world event, in one year. I'm off to a great start, I completed Winter Veil and got the Merrymaker title with 4 days to spare! Next up the Lunar New Year...

I love Neal Stephenson's books!

I've been reading Neal Stephenson's latest book Anathema. Actually, I'm almost done. I love this book! Like most of his works he proposes concepts that challenge the way I think. He creates worlds/futures that could be real. I can't wait to see how this one ends.

I've read Cryptonomicon, The Diamond Age, and Snowcrash. I'll be picking up the rest of his books soon. I have to say that when I find an author I like I tend to get obsessive about reading all of the books they've written (good, bad and never should have been written).

Other authors I obsessively read:
Anne McCaffrey
Laurell K. Hamilton
Sherrilyn Kenyon
Tamora Pierce
Orson Scott Card
Anne Bishop
Stefanie Meyer
Eoin Colfer
Mercedes Lackey
And the list goes on and on....

Usually I'm reading Science Fiction/Fantasy, but I do get into moods where I'll go and read classics, plays, fiction and very occasionally non-fiction. I'm not much into biographies, though I will make an exception for well written biographies of famous (or in some cases infamous) women.

Edit: Finished Anathema Friday. Wow! It was amazing.

Introduction

My primary goal for this blog is to have a place to put my thoughts down and document things going on in my life. My writing may not be great and at times will be rambling and random, occasionally ranting, but true.

My name is actually Lisa, KyaLyn is my favorite D&D character I created. Yes, I play Dungeons and Dragons although I have not had a chance to try out 4th edition. Currently I'm playing World of Warcraft, obsessively. I'm married, no children, except for my two dogs.
